Detection of balancing microscopes in micron accuracy

A designer of the medical device department inquired us about "balancing" of microscopes for neurosurgery.

Client’s Issues

The neurosurgery to inosculate 0.05 mm vessels has needed sensors to always balance microscopes serving as eyes for physicians.

Use of "photo sensor" or "angle sensor" was also considered, however, its accuracy was not stable enough to balance microscopes constantly.
Also, the sensors are so large that it is difficult to incorporate them into a device.

The client inquired us about more stable operations for vessel inosculation surgeries that never fails.

The main focus of the issues

Unstable accuracy of the photo sensor.

The size of the photo sensor is too big to be set in equipment.

Metrol’s suggestions

"Photo sensor" or "angle sensor" incorporates an amp and is subject to temperature drift caused by changes in external conditions, which prevents a detection of balance of machines in micron level.
Metrol's "Positioning switch" is a precision-machine-type without an amp and not subject to changes in external conditions, having the stable 1μm repeatability.
The M5 x 17 mm micro size can have the switch built in the microscope body.

Always balancing a microscope can help difficult surgeries.
